This is a little gem to add to anyone's collection. In those early, early days it's a treat to now see and hear how involved they were in the whole tapistry of American music, including the Charles Ives Syymphony #4. There is a difference between being musicians and being taken seriously as artists I think, and this view of Jerry's (and the bands') 'holistic' repertoire is very reflective of their desire to become unique and at the same time represent their musical influences.

Aside from the novelty of these odd ducks talking music, the tunes are, for the most part, outstanding. On the strength of these samples, I just added the Junior Wells and the Charles Lloyd albums to my collection. Excellent stuff. This goes to show you what's missing in radio. Once upon a time, we could benefit from a knowledgable DJ lighting the way. Now we're all forced to blaze our own trails, and missing plenty along the way, no doubt.
