I know this show well... perhaps its the dynamics of it. A great awakening, as what once slept now awakens. The movements are ALIVE, the Grateful Dead becoming anew as they fully become (and transcend) conciousness going beyond individual thought in the flying ways of pure progression... no drugs needed. The mind is already bent... full circle! Revolving around some deep inner truth released in fully achieved passion... '68 is capturing the sound in an unfathomable way.

this is by far my best show to be ridin' in my VW bus blasting it as much as the speakers will take, and then some... i have made 2 CD's of this already because the other one overheated in the radio wile playing it and it no longer works. for get quality for a minute, this is the height of Pigpen and the boys, and they are raw, a little gritty, but A.W.E.S.O.M.E. !!! GET THIS AND THE DRIVE TO ANY SHOW... you will never be the same.

Jerry's & Bob's guitars come through loud and clear also. Keyboards are clear. Drums are low in the mix. Phil's bass comes through when I push in the loudness button and turn up the bass control on my amp, but its not very defined. There is that annoying buzz that is audible during quiet passages. There is an audible hiss. All in all a very listenable and I think good quality recording given how old it is, it sounds clear.
