The Dead seemed to have liked this venue as this show and the show at the Rose Palace earlier in the spring (Mar 22) are both a bit wild and wooly. There's some nice write-ups about this show on the Internets. Evidently the Dead opened for a *movie* at this gig, specifically "Farewell Cream" (easily one of the worst classic rock concert documentaries ever produced).

Other reviewers have said that some of the earlier songs on this recording are from 12-12-69. It's nice to hear a proto-Uncle John's; it had a more open, looser feel before it became fully polished. The early part of the listed set is plagued by equipment problems. Most severely, the power cuts out to the amps just as Jerry's getting heated up in Morning Dew. However, Dark Star to the end simply smokes.
