This show is a beautiful sounding CM remaster that does the performance and original recording higher justice than any of the other copies. How wonderful of a time that it must have been to see the Dead. In the height of their youthful energy yet damaged from the tattered scene after Altamont. This is before the Dead transitioned into their Folsky-Cowboy stage but after the major psychedelia perpetuated earlier that year. Pigpen is killing it all over. Every Pig performance this night kills!

The writing is not exactly on the wall when it comes to the Dave's Picks subscription. The Road Trips series was offered as a subscription towards the end in the past two years, and nothing as happened to our Archive SBDs. Sure, GDP will continue to select shows for remaster and release, and yes Charlie Miller probably got this tape sounding as good as it gets (in many cases his tapes have sounded better than official HDCD release), but this will not be a bad thing.
