Dick's Picks Volume 16. Jesus what an incredible looking set list! They play Easy Wind for nine minutes not to mention that this show was the first time they ever played Cumberland Blues live. Eight minute Dire Wolf which is crazy. Pigpen blows the harmonica so well in Easy Wind that it owes him five bucks! I didn't realize they did Mama Tried this early (considering Merle had just put it out in 68) but it is pretty sweet as well. Not too mention that I didn't remember them doing Good Loving' until after Pigpen died but that is also sweet. Just an incredible show altogether. Cumberland Blues could not be more bluesy. It is completely different than the Europe 72 version. Dark Star gets really f****** far out. It is almost Space about ten years before they started doing Space. Pigpen start rambling during Caution and it is great. Just an overall astounding early performance.

Every Head should own a copy of Dick's Picks 16, another sweet show from the Fillmore. The Dark Star> The Other One> Dark Star> Uncle John's Jam> Dark Star> St. Stephen> The Eleven> Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)> Main Ten Jam> Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks) is an awesome aural spectacle that commands your attention. That is the meat and potatoes of this show, but the whole show is grate and worth a spin or two.

I have had Dicks Picks 16 since it came out. Wow amazing. I think thats all I can say. I remember i ate some mushrooms and went hiking. This show was the soundtrack for that day. The Dark Stars and UJB jam melted me. Not a listen goes by without those memories. This is a great show to download but purchase DP16 if you want great quality.

This an excellent aud recording for being so early in the game. But what else would you expect from the legendary Marty Weinberg? I just wish there was more of it....
