This is my personal all-time favorite Lovelight. It's just so over-the-top crazy and the buildup to the climactic ending is total pandemonium with Bobby and Pig just letting it rip! I first heard this on the Grateful Dead Hour about 15 years ago, I taped it and used to listen to it all the time when I still had a car stereo that played cassettes. Still have that tape. This is a pretty nice, clean recording, too, with very little hiss.

all i can say is "nothing special going on here..." !?! is a perfectly jaundiced analysis to be sure, which smacks of the dreaded too- stoned- to- stand -up syndrome. this show is so under-rated there's people asking whether it was actually even played, so maybe this is just a figment of our imaginations, but whatever the f it is, i'm pretty glad somebody dreamt this one onto acetate.

Typical of the era the Dead played primarily folk material with great early versions of such classics as Cold Rain and Snow, and Black Peter. The Direwolf featured here is perhaps my favorite that i have heard up to this point, great interplay throughout the entire show between Jerry and Phil specifically noticed in Dire Wolf, This is a fine recording as well making it easily go from 4 stars to 5 stars. Short but sweet. Download if for nothing other then Dire Wolf, Black Peter, and Lovelight. :)
