- ★★★★★ · Evening with the Dead · nobigwoop · 2010
I was teaching at Cheshire Academy at the time, and I attended this concert. The format was "Evening with the Grateful Dead", which started with an acoustic set by Jerry and Bob, followed by a New Riders set, followed by the Dead. (The acoustic set seems to be missing from this collection.) The musicians' gear arrived in a 12-foot truck -- them were the days. High points of this collection include Jerry's pedal steel throughout the NRPS set, and of course the great Ron McKernan.

Yes the sound is bad. It’s real bad. But…after a while—and with a little EQ and a good pair of headphones—your ears adjust to the airy, smoky atmosphere of this recording and it’s really not THAT bad. Or at least not nearly as much as I’ve been lead to believe based on these reviews, which caused me to avoid this show for years.
- ★★★★ · Was "Professor Schenk" actually Karl Scheibe? · neocortex2 · 2018
When I was at Wes (1972-1977) the head of the Psychology Department was Karl Scheibe. The closeness of the names suggests he may have been the professor alluded to in the comments above. Has anyone asked him?
