Soundboard. Morning Dew to start, let’s go! Wild bendy solo on early Casey Jones. Maybe I am just not that familiar with early Dancing in the Streets but Pigpen obviously dug it. Groovy. Strong soloing starts around 6 minutes in from Jerry. CRAZY build. This Dancing is incredible. Next Time You See Me about as clean faster tempo bluesy Pigpen era tune as you can get. One of only four times they played New Orleans. Surf rock sorta? Really pretty Attics into Dire Wolf which is a solid combo. Incredible un-named 15 minute Jam after Drums and into 24 minute Lovelight where Pigpen does some hilarious crowd work “Maybe she kick ya in the nuts?” — 5 minute to Fade Away and then another 10 minute ending to Lovelight. Sprawling jams. “Go on out and get something good” is how Pigpen ends the show.

I'm now willing to listen to any and all arguments that 1970 was their best year! How about Ron and Jerry trading solos in Next Time You See Me? 'You go,' 'Now you,' 'Join in.' Of course I'm paraphrasing. It was probably, "Go on now," that Pigpen usually said in between his singing or harmonica and a Jerry (or Bob) guitar solo. And Jerry said something like, "Come on in," when he invites Ron to play his harmonica alongside his guitar.

Great sound quality really highlights the interplay between Jerry and Bob after the Alligator drums as they run through a Darkness Jam, a Goodnight Jam, and some really interesting melodic type stuff in the jam portion of Lovelight. From Alligator until the end of the set this show cooks! The UJB closer is plagued with Jerry's guitar dropping out of the mix in the opening and Billy's insistence on playing "off" the beat.

Feast your ears on one of the best shows of 1970 in fantastic sound quality! The whole show is amazing but I would be remiss to not mention the amazing jam that springs out of Alligator. Home of yet another Pigpen outrage that jams its way through a Darkness Darkness jam, and a fantastic Lovelight>Not Fade Away>Lovelight segue. Crank this one up and enjoy one of the best 1970 had to offer.
