. . . I RECOMMEND ADDING THIS SHOW TO YOUR 1970 AUDIENCE COLLECTION. . . The performance is beyond spectacular, you will want this show in your archive if you are a DEAD HEAD. Yes it has hand clapping sometimes and yes it's an Audience Recording and sounds like you are out in the lobby (actually out in the audience) but that's not all it is... It's the GRATEFUL DEAD at the FILLMORE EAST in New York City, July 12, 1970. What do you think it's going to sound like man? PAY ATTENTION!

I was at this show and I've been looking for a recording of it ever since. I lived in New Jersey at the time and I saw the Dead close to 200 times from 1969 to 1974 but this was by far the best show. They were billing it as "Dead at Midnight" The show started at midnight with the acoustic set, continued with New Riders featuring Garcia on steel and Hart on drums and the ELECTRIC Dead took the stage at around 3:15 am. I had seats in the second row center.

Chickenlips review from May 2014 says it all, I too live in Jersey & remember this show & especially the cartoon Sunshine Maker, been trying to find it & had no luck until now, thanks chickenlips,I remember getting blasted by the sunshine when we all left, got on the path trains[Tubes] back to Jersey with a bunch of hard hats staring at us like we were from outer space, we were no longer in outer space having landed back on earth after the Dead finished
