One of Garcia's definitive interviews is the late '71 interview which was released in Jan '72 in Rolling Stone. Garcia is talking about how everyone thought the boys were some "country, light acoustic" band after Workin' Man's and American Beauty. He calls the Skull and Roses album (which is primarily composed of tracks from the Manhattan Center shows) the "prototype Grateful Dead". Were just a "a regular shoot-em-up saloon band".

This show as a whole is fine, if a tad overrated; The Other One is just OK imo, though the NFA>GDTRFB from Skull and Roses is very decent. However, this show features a MONSTER performance of Lovelight, with wild, electric, unhinged jamming and a drunken sounding Pig screaming and shouting at the audience like a maniac! The jamming about halfway through the song is especially awesome, the boys intertwining nicely on a unique theme.
