As bouncy, old school, and American as a rubber dodgeball. April ‘71 doesn’t miss. Having returned to the original Warlocks lineup, this was the five-man band that saw Pig, Jerry, and Bob dividing up fairly even slices of the setlist pie. Certain songs had been in the repertoire for a year or two but were really starting to come to a boil, like Hard to Handle and China > Rider, while other tunes like Sing Me Back Home and the Ace rockers were new to the fold but already stealing faces.

This was my first Dead show...i was 13. I remember a lot of the details vividly. Jerry played steel with the NRPS and when their set ended, half of the crowd left, thinking they'd seen the Dead because Jerry was out there. Brilliant. The band came out and played EVERYTHING...until the house lights got turned on. They just kept playing...until the power was cut. Garcia was P*****. He said that they'd never play Bangor again and...guess what?...they didn't.

Wow! Another great show with excellent sound from Spring of 1971. Everything well played 1st set ends at Casey Jones. Sing Me Back-getting tighter ever time. the Dead would have played all night if the powers that be had just relaxed up on the rules and regulations.
