so out of tune right through loser and then they tune up and hit the launch pad with the rub.....and it's so good, like the curtain is lifted for you....teetering on the edge of madness for 7 songs of brilliant playing and all out of tune.... and it is a very hot phil show...but they are ALLL hopped up, equally bobby though he suffers longer out of tune, amazing that they just hang on to the edge and Willlllllll out the music knowing right from the git that they are going to kill it....jerry…

I got into the Dead in the mid-70's while in grammer school in SF. State college was behind my house and there was always alot of hippies hanging around. There used to be alot of bootleg sections in record stores in those days. I bought this Dead bootleg because of the cool transparent swirl of the vinyl. There were only 2 songs on one side - Sing me back Home and Mamma tried, and 1 song - The Other One on flipside.

The closing of the Fillmore West is a classic, an Island off the coast of August, not too far past the historic month of April. This show, for all it's order and 71 economy sized playing, is outshined by it's trancendent Cryiptical Reprise, a time stopper, rivaling the mastery of Alligator thru Cold Rain at the closing of the Fillmore East cross country two odd months before it, and the Dark Star Wharf Rat Dark Star Combo from the Capitol Theater 2 months prior. Who sais 71 is tame?
