    This is a high quality recording of the Dead in transition mode with Keith minus Pigpen and before Donna. These are very basic versions of tunes that would become 1st set workhorses for the Dead until 75. The longest tune is LOSER at 7:11. But you could easily split this set in two and it would be two nights worth of material in the 90's. If you are someone who likes to get up and dance the pace of this material is brisk!

    As mentioned below, this is a great show and perhaps DP2 will be repackaged one day and include this. I just want to add that El Paso is particularly nice tonight. I especially enjoyed Garcia's riffs just after "...away I did ride..." and "...a deep burning pain in my side..." He had that brilliant talent to slip those riffs in and make the incredible even that much more remarkable (like the extra bit he gives his solo in Peggy-O at the Mosque in '77).

    give me a break. this could be the in my mind greatest tripped out dark star ever played and it has been capsuled in to what i bought and considered the most entrenched and crazy show bobby ever played. listen to the end of sugar mag and tell me that this show is not worthy of a full release. ridiculous. get off your horse.
