Hey now folks, this isn't a review; there's plenty of that to go around for this show and all others. Instead, just an acknowledgement of the joy and excitement of seeing the band at this stage of their lives, and mine. The Fox was called the best house in the U.S. by Jerry, along with rumors around this time the Dead were considering buying the Fox for their Midwest home away from home. The show was a high time, the crowd knew what to do, and the venue is acoustically perfect.

It goes from ~ 3:30 to ~ 3:54, right in the middle of a lovely Jerry solo. Tant pis....if one of the bootleg-meisters has a source w/out that cut, it would be a great addition. Other than that, this is a pretty tasty little show. I'm giving it 5 stars because the sound quality and the performance are both great...I'd probably go to 4.5 if I could, but I can't see taking a whole star just because of a cut in a song.

Absolutely extraordinary version on this night, everyone bringing their total A-game to this amazingly cohesive and riveting jam. I can't really comment on most of the rest of the show (though the Bird Song is very decent), but this is a 5-star, must hear PITB. One of the finest of the era, no doubt.
