: ; : ; PHIL IS THE MAN!!!.......Okay, this mix is for bass players and drummers. If you want to feel like you got seats in front of Phil Lesh's bass cabinet, this show is for you. Phil's bass sings sweet FAT round notes and when he strums a chord you had better duck... Great opportunity to hear how Phil did it in 1972 with only 4 strings...Man, Phil sounds so good. If a show had to have Phil "Too Hot in the Mix" I am glad it's this show, he's amazing.

I moved from southern California to Nashville to attend college at Vanderbilt and started hearing a lot of good bluegrass. My sophomore year and the Dead were scheduled to play, right on campus where I lived! Amazing. Total party carnival extravaganza. I've seen them at UCLA Pauley Pavilion and outdoors also at UC Santa Barbara, but this was like seeing them at home. Fantastic. Now I can listen to it all over again, forty years later.
