I am not a deadhead. This being the one and only Dead concert I ever saw limits my opinion somewhat,I guess. But it was a glorious concert and time. I had just turned 18. Century II had a large open area in front of the stage and the practice then was to sit cross-legged on the floor til the music started, then get up jump around and dance. Saw most of this with Roger Wickman, Rick Swank, Dan Keleher, Cleo Sebring, and Steve Jackman, as I recall.

I was 17 and a freshman at Emporia State, went with Sam and Marty. Marty’s brother drove down from Lawrence, to pick us up in a hearse, with the back end converted into a “smoking parlor”. I have to disagree with previous reviewer about lack of psychedelic energy, I’m pretty sure everyone in the building was trippin’. Played a lot of good songs from Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty. Also of note, during concert, it snowed 8-10 inches, what a surprise!
