(first half.) Pigpen is listed as keyboard "in spirit" as he was too ill to play and died about a week after these two shows. Killer Loser early on in the first set. Jerry vocals are great on Loose Lucy. Nice Beer Barrel Polka before Big Railroad Blues which is cool. Some of the best solos I have heard on any Railroad. Jerry is smoking. Incredible 25 minute Dark Star into a breath taking 19 minute Eyes.

This was my first show and of all my shows, I still feel it was the best. The Wall of Sound actually frightened me as I hallucinated the first chord would blow us all out of the place!!! The China/Rider was one I have never forgotten and the set from Tennessee Jed through Eyes of the World took me to places I can only describe as otherworldly. The one interesting part I remember (somebody correct me if I'm confused) was the NFA > GDTRFB > NFA.

I am glad this is available for a listen. 1st set a nice mix of rockers and ballads. All well done, Lucy, RxR blues from Jerry Bob sharp on his tunes as well. 17 wonderful minutes of P.I.T.B. 2nd set T.L.E.O opener! Jed, Greatest Story!! Full show 1973 that features Dark Star>Eyes>Half Step. Note:17 minutes to the first verse of Dark Star. The Eyes is super fast paced and so is half-Step! Everything after the Rio Grande is gravy!!! Yeah, I am going to go out on a limb and give it 5 stars.

This was my first show. For years I’ve maintained this was a WOS show. All the books I’ve read insist this didn’t happen until 74. Memory is a funny thing but I was so impressed by the giant wall of sound. The individual speakers were covered in tie-dye. Saw my second show in Omaha in the fall of 73 and was disappointed there was no WOS. I definitely was not tripping! Another reviewer also claims WOS. Anybody else?
