This is a solid show from start to finish with some superb moments like the China>Rider and Here Come Sunshine. It's the Dark Star, however, that makes this night stand out as one of those "if I only had a time machine" shows. It is majestic and transcendent and I can't imagine what it would have been like to experience it live. It's not for everyone - you have to like going to these dark places and have the time and the mind set to fully immerse yourself in the experience.

Keith! The sounds of Keith's Fender Rhodes are key to this Dark Star. At moments, roughly at the 18-19 minute mark, sounds like Zepellin's No Quarter with the spooky organ sounds. Phil takes over for a good chunk of the latter half of this epic Dark Star. I love a long meandering jam but longest does not necessarily mean best and there are some famously mammoth jams that I've been disappointed in because they seem to lack purpose.
- ★★★★★ · Joyful Intellectual Meanderings, The Ambiguity of Art · lescaret · 2013
That people can differ so remarkably in responding to a piece of Art - whether a painting, a novel, or in this case a song - is a wonderful thing and not to be taken lightly. If our tastes were all the same, think how banal would be this miraculous life! I refer to this tantalizingly opaque "Dark Star," this brooding, intellectual meander that is unlike any other "Dark Star" you'll probably ever hear. I don't know of another like it.
