All the players are present in the moment, game for the challenge, and are clearly happy to be firing up their magnificent machine. Of course there's a wee bit of tentative playing, after the layoff, but it's cool to hear these arrangements of tunes new and old by a band in transition. I was a just a kid, a clerk in a convenience store listening to the show on WBCN that night. I was not on the bus. Sure, I'd heard the records and thought they were OK, but... THIS? I had no context for it.

I just bought an old Dead ticket on the spur of the moment, kinda hoping I could find a recording of it. Turns out it was this show! Orchestra K 24 with an $8.50 face value in perfect condition. I also bought a vintage Dead handbill that was stated as being from Houston but I saw the pic... WBCN in big letters.... Yes... June 12th Music Hall! I remember hearing this live back in '76 wishing I had a ticket. I recorded it off the radio and still have the tape somewhere.
