Top 20, EVER! I know ratings are always pretty subjective...but this has just about the perfect mix of what I love in a Grateful Dead show. I will freely admit that the playing is, in a few places, rough, even sloppy. There is a fine line between sloppy and experimentally brilliant sometimes. The boys took some chances and hit the jackpot over and over again here. Everybody - I mean everybody - is firing on all cylinders for most of this show.

The standard is so high and there is so much competition for a '5'. I liked the first set alot but was not blown away by it and before I go any further let me admit that the following night is one of my favorite all time shows 6/9/77. All of the above said, Bertha> Good lovin I think is one of the best they ever did and that is saying alot. Ramble on rose is a nice 2nd set surprise and est>eyes wails.

This show is so familiar that I think it often gets overlooked. It shouldnt. The energy at this show is a force to be reckoned with and its mixed alchemistically with some of the most delicate quiet moments. This wonderful recording of Bettys has made the rounds for years, but the fine AUD patches here are a most welcome addition as I doubt few had heard the nearly 17 full minutes of Sugaree (or the uncut Row Jimmy) before archive put this up.
