GWIZ, this is proof, again, that a tape doesn't reveal the show. No way of telling from a tape how good the show may or may not have been. What I hope you meant to say was "this is a run of the mill '77 TAPE". This, my friends, was an absolutely beautiful show. A couple from Tyler, Texas (rose capital of the world) delivered 100 dozen roses to the band before the show. Roses were everywhere and the Boys were blown away. One of the best venues I ever saw the Dead in (180 shows over 25 years).

This has to be the best Stephen>NFA I've ever heard. The NFA is absolutely amazing....Jerry's coke break during the drum intro was incredibly beneficial for his solo work. It's Phenomenal! I would love to have seen the look on Jerry's face as he cruises through the jams like some divine angel of sound. Phil and the drummers are boomin' too. Anyway, it definitely rivals with the 10/11/77 NFA as one of the most profoundly intense and exploratory ever.

  • ★★★★★ · One great under the radar show · blang16 · 2012

I've loved this show since my earliest listening days (roughly the following year. Saturday Night Live. Remember that?) This is one high energy, melodic, powerful show. The second set is a thing of beauty. Strong playing. No wasted notes. Very melodic leads. The lead in Sunrise is perfect. Terrapin is beautiful. The jam in Stephen is beautiful. The jam in Truckin' is sublime. Sugar Mags starts with 3 full minutes of playing before Bob sings a note. Even One MOre Sat Night goes out with a bang.
