For some, the prospect of an all Weir song show is less than appetizing. This one proves them wrong. While the usual Weir fare is fully represented, it's not the song choice but the performance that counts here. Weir really steps up to the plate for these two shows, but the band itself is not far behind. Super high energy throughout, some songs rock so hard you'll wonder what the band took and where you can get some. Highlights?

I was approximately 5th row center for this show. It maybe was a bit of an exaggeration on Phil's part as he said just before the encore "If every place we played was like this we'd live here". But obviously they had fun, despite Jerry's continuing illness! Perhaps, because they apparently hadn't ever before played on Bill Graham's Birthday? Almost any show at the Golden Hall was good, yet I missed the night before but I saw all the other shows there except for 1970.
