I have yet to give this a full listen, as it will usually take me a week or so to fully go through a dead show, but I have listened to just about most of the first set , and this show is smoking. The rythym of big river is so HEAVY, and the quality of this recording captures that power beautifully. One of my fave dead tracks, and a great version here. A big thank you to Charlie Miller :) More and More I see his name attatched to the shows I have been streaming for years.

I was 17 years old and my parents let me drive their Plymouth Fury from Lynchburg to Blacksburg to see the show. It was assigned seating and we had just found our seats as the lights went down and first few chords of Promised Land rang through the auditorium. I froze dead in my tracks and stood watching in amazement. I had found my seat but apparently did not want to use it. Eventually the guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to sit down.
