At first, I was disappointed that the show is only a soundboard for the first set, but it actually becomes a good comparison piece to examine the relative strengths and weaknesses of soundboard and audience recordings: -SBD: in this case, a typically sweet late 70s recording, warm and full. The setlist doesn't blow me away; "Sugaree" and "Loser" stand out for me, great performances of two of my favorite songs.

I've gotta say, this is one of my favorite shows ever. I currently go to UVM, which used to be titled "Groovey Uvey," but it's a lot less groovey than it once was. I still like to think of it in that tradition, as I've seen a few people play at Patrick Gym and yes, the sound sucks. Notable mentions include Keller Williams, Robert Randolf and the Family Band and The Flaming Lips.

This is a very good quality recording of my first Dead show. It was a great evening and this brings back the memories loud and clear. As a freshman at UVM that Spring of '78, I should have been preparing for finals - Lord knows I needed to - but there I was. Little damage done and three years later I was saying goodbye to great friends and a fantastic four years.
