It was a stellar night. Handed in a term paper at school in Albany, and hitched a ride to Rochester. Caught a ride with kids going to the show. Wandered around Rochester.... no where to go, just to hang around and ran into my buds from college on the floor of the arena. We had a great time enjoying a great show in that tiny venue. My buddies split to head to their thanksgivings in Buffalo.

imagine a bunch of burn outs descending upon Rochester, a few days before Thanksgiving, from U of Albany, Buffalo, Colgate, Syracuse, Binghamton, Ithaca, Cornell, Stoneonta, you name the upstate college...papers handed in, mid terms complete, time to party....I was a freshman, first break from first year at school...the entire southern tier was ready to go northward and party...great venue...Hanan Kolko, Rochester native and fellow Big Red freshman, was at his first show...

My first show. I was a casual deadhead. Rode in on a magic bus from UBuffalo. I thought it appropriate they opened with Promised Land. Loved Dire Wolf (had never heard it), Cassidy (same), and Jack Straw (same). After the set ended I said, “what a great show!”. A guy a few rows in front of me says, “bro, there’s another set and it’s even longer”. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been on the bus ever since.
