  • ★★★★★ · Like many others here--First show as a youngster · grendelschoice · 2005

I know we're just supposed to review the show/sound quality and I will--promise! But first I have to say how funny it is that so many of the reviewers so far seem to have been--like me--quite young when attending this show. It was my FIRST Dead show, and I was so young (14 at the time) that I remember walking around the Coliseum before the show and being embarrassed when a hippie chick saw me and my friend and said: "Look!

To Tom Donnely's review... I remember this run well, too, not only because 1/11/79 was one of my first shows, but also because it was A VERY COLD NIGHT, not conducive to "Tail-Gating" in the flat, mid-Island area known as 'Roosevelt Field'. I was a sophomore in H.S. too, where I grew up, (in Port Washington,), about 15-20 miles north of the Coliseum, and the first time the band returned to the area since I had become a hard-core "Head"!!! This night WAS MAGICAL, as any Dead

  • ★★★★★ · BIG SHOW · nashman · 2006

some of the big jack straw dates i have noticed: 1-11-79,11-6-79,8-20-80,9-9-87, my friend and i agree this could be the best. bobby could have given jerry just a litlle more time at the end, jerry was just starting to really blossom, none the less, imho, best straw ever. And a huge show all around. Sounds like falling crystals in stella, beautiful. 11-6-79 recieved second on the jack straw for us. god i love that tune. big show.
