As many of you reading this I have been to and heard hundreds and hundreds of Dead shows, but I have to say this one really gets my attention. I am trying to find fault with this show and I just can't, from the setlist to the performance it gets 5 stars. Why don't they put this out as the next vault show? Instead they put out the July, 7,89 Philly show that I actually listened to twice (had to give it a 2nd chance) and then I put it on the shelf in my collection forever.

I've only heard through Samson, but what a ripping version of that song! Right up there with my favorite versions of Spring '90! The first set begins with some spacey sounds on stage. 15 more second of tape would have revealed Brent making some trippy synth effects into the Sugaree. Someone, maybe Bob, is out of tune, or is it the pitch of the various sources? Either I got used to it, or else it gets corrected pretty quick Jerry plays this show with precision and depth.

A fun show that sounds great. The audience noise just makes it sound like you're there... so much fun. Everyone is right about the show's solstice energy but I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Stella Blue — but then again, it's a personal favorite. Honestly, Jer's muse rides him all the way... so melodic. Coltrane and Miles Davis have nothing on this man. It's performance art at it's best. We are so lucky.
