This is a killer show from this often overlooked Europe '81 tour. To my ears, this is quite a bit better than the esteemed 10/16 show, though it does lack that show's dynamite acoustic set. Never-the-less, there's a ton of energy here, and many great performances, a few possibly the best of the year.

This show cooks from start to finish (almost). Besides the cowboy tunes the energy is just phenomenal. Franklin's is electric with Garcia singing with confidence and pride. How about the Passenger with random Phil bombs bursting throughout? Yowza! The Scarlet-Fire is one of the all-time greats. One can only assume that Garcia wanted to play his best in the country of his ancestors. Listen to this one.

scarlet>fire is smokin and the other one is nuts. tight show. we all know that this was the end of an era right before the sloppy mid-80s truly began. sbd hiss a bit distracting but not enough to damper this amazing show.
