  his was the last show of the Spring East Coast for the Grateful Dead. they would next appear in an upside down, feel-good, raging three show run at the eucalyptus and .... ecastasy? drenched (ok.... maybe that was '84) Greek Theatre UC Berkeley. but f*** all that.... they open with Jack Straw again and again it is another winner -- what can you say again? it is just one of their best songs. period. it gets up the brotherhood's blood.....

  The setlist makes it look like the encore, Brokedown Palace, isn't here. If that's true, then it's a major bummer as this is a clean sounding audience tape. If it doesn't have the encore, here's one thing you'll miss: So there I am in the upper section at the truly brokedown 'palace' that was the Baltimore Civic Center. It's the end of the show, and I steal (I am SO SO Sorry!) a bedsheet with the Steal Your Face painted on it. The sheet had been tied to the railing of the upper deck.

  I always prefer the audience tapes because they really capture the ambience of the whole show. And what a show it was! I guess opinions about shows are always colored by our experiences, and this experience was incinerated in my brain. :-) Me, Rustamon, Big Steve, and John K jumped in John K's old Buick and blasted up 95 to Baltimore from Raleighwood the day of the show. No tickets, but it was not a problem getting in. This show was the last on the tour.
