Great quality. Taped off of Grateful Dead radio show. Very Pretty High Times.

For the people who have not been there - U-Hall has a clam shell shaped top which is pretty cool. I was up in the rafters for my first show here at age 16. Was given a ticket by a HS classmate who had to play soccer. I don't remember it being overly hot up there. One thing I do remember that was pretty funny was that they turned the house lights on at "sometimes the lights all shinin' on me". The show absolutely smoked, and it was hard to find a good copy of this show on tape for a long time.

I arrived at college in August '86. Short hair, drinkin beer, a Kansas kid not sure what he was getting into. At the same time my cousin was in California. I went to see him and saw two Kaiser Shows. Most of the next 2 years saw me wandering around with longer and longer hair, alienated from the frat system, taking solace in nightly bootlegs (and supplements), trying to be a writer, and jumping ship as much as I could to see shows.

This is a great show for a number of reasons, featuring excellent recording quality and tons of hot jams. The setlist is typical of the early 80s with several great tunes that dropped out the rotation in later years (e.g., Big RR Blues and LL/Supplication). As Jerry goes, so goes the band and on this one Jerry is just hot, hot hot. Some critics turn their noses up at 80s shows, but this one illustrates how the Dead could still kick out the jams at that time. I am from Northern Va.
