You were very lucky and I agree, although I would argue the 84 tour is probably truley last of the old school Dead Head scene on the road with the band albeit alot bigger from previous tour. I think 1983 was a first for alot Heads. A new generation, I wasn't old enough 12 at the time. In my opinion 82 was the end of an era for the Heads that attended the shows in the 70's.

This is the show I was looking forward to hearing as a board, I had always had a too fast or slow AUD of this. This is sweet, the West LA and Esau (shadow boxing) were early versions, and Jerry's soulful voice and noodling strokes throught the short but blazin Help>Slip was a treat. Phil dropped alot of bombs and a tradition for Hampton...smokestack,,no other venue got it twice This was my wife's first show.

Diggin' the sound and the energy on this one..A funky Esau for sure in this power packed 1st set..as I'm typing this, I'm thinking did they ever play any bad show in Hampton?? Can't think of any~!! The mothership always provided~after they close 1st set with a smoking China>Rider that energy carries over to the 2nd set..Listen to Phil on the Help>Slip>Franklins..the rest of the set blazes the Happy Trail..WHEN IN DOUBT>TWIRL~Forever Grateful>Forever Dead~!!!
