Who gives a care if this was Trey Anastsio’s or Richard Nixon’s or Al Franken’s or Tipper Gore’s first Dead show. It was lots of folk’s with just as must value’s first show too. As for the Dick’s Picks thing, I recall thinking at the time that if you were looking for a Ct show from ‘83 with an epic Scarlet > Fire and killer (19 minutes to boot) Other One called by no less than Blair Jackson as ‘the best of the 80’s and 90’s’ that also includes an awesome first set with Lazy lighting and MNS at…

Pardon my enthusiasm, but this is my favorite 80's show, period. I could write a novel about this show, but I'll try to be brief: KILLER FIRST SET (might be the definitive Big RxR Blues, and all-time versions of Brown Eyed Women and Let it Grow). EVEN BETTER SECOND SET -- the China -> Rider is substantial, and the Playing is a **journey** -- definitely not just spacey noodling, this Playing features multiple, complex themes that build towards some very interesting payoffs.
