I like checking shows out that are virginal, and my comments are only about the 2d set. Playin is a nice strange trip, though things never get too out of hand, unlike China Doll which is very trippy and long. The back side pulls Playin out from a typically odd 84 drums/space segment into an inspired Black Peter. Not the best of the year, but not bad either. I'm rounding up to 4 stars

My first dead show. Number one I enjoyed the parking lot scene, two was the venue itself, and three the people were amazing. The Dead grabbed me at the Playin>China Doll >Drums > Space> Playin sequence. I had never heard a run like that in my time and was alerted to something grand going on all around me. Could not wait to see them again the next day and for the following 10 years!

...but not a great one. There's a good Aiko Aiko to start things off and the China Doll is quite fine. Nothing life-changing, but a couple hours of good music.
