Killer venue, small 7000 plus capacity out door ampitheater lawn, pavilion and fully loaded with castles on the sides old-school mid evil. Never been there but, I heard enough and seen some cool photos. Summer of 84 this was a killer stop for sure, the place to be no doubt. Pine Knob has sort of a similar set-up and vibe. The tour was going gonzo in 84 esp heart of the summer in the mid west. Heads and Dead were going bonkers, heavy Shakedown St.

The first set is noted for the energy and power of several otherwise overplayed songs. Alabama>Prom Land screams with pride straight from the heatland. Phil is dropping bombs during West L.A. and Esau and Rain are Weir treats during his bi-sexual stage. Second set has a nice pre-drums Scarlet>Touch>Fire but Jerry had to drop the kids off early and left Brent searching for companionship. Overall great recording of a performance noteworthy for tension filled atmosphere between band and crowd.

Awesome show and energy! After listening to a '94 Oakland show before this one, my faith in the Dead is renewed. The SB>Touch of Grey segue blew my mind; Touch>Fire, not so much. Touch of Grey was jumpin'/real energy and optimism compared to more thumpin' '90's versions. . Loved Bobby laughing at himself with the dyslexic word slip on Throwin' Stones. And a real cookin' NFA. Yeah!!!
