DNA '85 is my favorite year. I know many find dicotomy with Jerry leaving the stage or standing stoic at times during the show. But for this one, I found Jerry more animated and certainly his voice in better form (regardless of flubbed lyrics). His playing is crisp and he ventures into challenging waters by delivering the first She Belongs to Me in 19 years. Notice that he quickly uprights any mistakes - I think that's pretty cool.

Set I absolutely smokes. I think this is my favorite Jack Straw--it just has so much pickin' and they are really tight the whole way through. Hard to believe the She Belongs to Me would top it, but I have to agree--it is amazing. The rest of the set is very solid. On the sound board version you can hear someone (Phil?) say, "How about Monkey and the Engineer?" right before Jerry breaks into the opening chords of Dire Wolf. Guess he didn't like the suggestion!
- ★★★★★ · smokin' show, killer aud sound quality · gordon hensley · 2017
there's a reason this oade aud has so many takers vis a vis the other recordings: its close to sonic perfection. first set smokes, with intense playing that somehow seems so easy and relaxed at same time. she belongs to me is awesome. the prior night oade aud and this show are optimal, first rate bookends demonstrating why '85 is captivating. and who doesn't love providence? civic center was an institution :-)
