The sound on this copy is above average for sure. It sounds just like being there. 5 stars to me. At this time in my touring days this show is prime time. Having now been on tour for 3 full years every show in between this and Ventura 1982. At this point I knew almost everyone on tour in one way or another. When you put that together along with the Kaiser's being our home base it made this show threw the roof with tour heads energy.

I remember listing to the broadcast of this awsome show couldn't wait to get the tape but wow now the quality of the cd is better.The 3rd set rocks.I still get happy feet when I listen to this one.

21 years after my first show, (Dillon Stadium '74) I finally made it to N.Y.E. with the Dead. It was a cool, rainy night in Oakland, but the music and the vibe were warm. Jerry was having fun and although his voice had lost its warmth and subtlety by the 80's he played with an intensity I hadn't seen for a few years. Bob even remebered all the words to Desolation Row and Jerry slipped in the melody from Auld Lang Syne at the end of one of his solo's. This was the last N.Y.E.
