I was lucky enough to see this last Prov. Civic Center run. A beautiful place to see the dead once inside(small , intimate , 16,000?) however the police were a terror to everyone. If they saw anyoneone who happened to be doing the very least possible thing illegal (including drinking beer in "public" meaning any pay city parking lot which cost you at least 20$) and if they did it publicly- they got picked up by the roving police wagons.

Is this a review of Buddy'y activities at the time? The Mayor? Obviously. I like how the band says they aren't political but are saying all kinds of things nonverbally here. onwards. Why say things when you can infer them and get in less trouble. Meanwhile 90% of those who hear it don't catch that kind of sociopolitical context. Jerry smart, other humans not so much............ That's The Grateful Dead. That's why we went to 241 shows.
