This was my first of 25 dead shows and probally my favorite. I was a small town punk from north Louisiana and was blown away by the parking lot scene and vendors but the true magic started when I got inside. You could feel the energy building and we were about 10 feet away from the band. The boys led us through and great setlist that ended with a smokin Iko and Knockin with the Bros. and Bangles. I then found myself wondering around by the river like a Wharf Rat way past sunrise.

The show was great, but seeing the boys on bourbon st afterwards was the highlight for me. Billy and Brent in the Famous Door knockin a few back Bobby with a Bangel or two under his arms I guess after singing busted on bourbon st for 18 years, they just had to go back Nawlins is hurtin right now in the aftermath of Katrinia, but it will get better with our help and thoughts Les Bon Ton Roule!!!!!!!!!!! This is a kicker of a show from the raw Scarlet>Fire through the magnificent Other One (Brought briefly low by the always out of place I Will Take You Home---pre Drums, boys, pre-Drums!!!!) You can bounce a quarter off this mix. Bright and jumpy like a handful of dexies. Here we go! Yes! A perfect example of the band in '88 blithely on their way to the 89-90 climax. No stopping this train! The fifth star is for Dan Healy.
