Right off the bat I am biased about this show, for my parents taped it off PPV when I was 4 years old and that VHS was the beginning of my lifelong relationship with the Dead and all of music. I owe all of my musical career to this show; it actually gets me a little pheclemped thinking about it... That said, this really is a great show and a solid representation of Summer '89. Very hot Minglewood, listen carefully to Brent's nasty fills. As reviewed earlier, Deal jams HARD.

This was a great show. I had a lot of fun at this one. A few technical mishaps to start, but the band had fun with it. The show really kicks in with Row Jimmy. Jerry's playing is smokin' in this one. The break in this version is so sweet (listen to the bass and keys). Other than the acoustic version, this Cassidy is probably my favorite. Great transitions in the jam. The Deal is above average. Probably the sweetest Dew I've ever heard.

I'm missing something beacuse this is one of the best of 89. Great long sets and lots of jamming. I have to respect others opinions, but to say there isn't a great version of anything is a bit misleading. The "deal" is considered by most heads as the best the band has ever played. Check it out for that alone, but the entire show works especially since the boys were notorious for not performing well on TV broadcasts or huge festivals. maybe it's me, wouldn't be the first time.
