When the earthquake hit, all the plaster on 2 walls of my bedroom exploded into the room as I was kicked off the floor repeatedly while diving under my desk, and then got my head bashed against the underside desk a couple times for good measure. I dug myself and my stash out of the disaster area coughing on the plaster dust nearly to the point of vomiting, and fled.

This benefit happened on the 20th Anniversary of Altamont. I think this recording is the pre-FM. I sat and listened to this entire concert on KPFA's unannounced, last minute, secret broadcast without having a positive or a negative thing to think of it, and it wasn't because I wasn't into the GD at that time, it's just with the Altamont memory coupled with the Loma Prieta Earthquake...well... I just couldn't handle it. I shut the radio off at Ship of Fools.

Weird time for the band. Mickey and Bill went on to form Flock of Dolphins and Rudy took over keyboards. But an overall good show. Some crazy MIDI stuff during SB. I prefer my guitars to sound like guitars but whatever. Set 2 is Russian doll of goodies. You can really hear the fun, esp in SM. A really great show. Oh, and Scooter pants from the St. shows up with his big sax to make it sound like the end of SNL. Love the band with sax. Like that horn thing they did in fall 73 was really cool.
