I'm revising this review many years later. What's weird is my 18th birthday was this shoreline show, 18 years later the dead are playing Shoreline again on my birthday. Fun. GDTS hooked us up with low 103's (Row C Seat 5 is what I have on my stub) for this show. It was an epic birthday present. The band did not disappoint. All of Spring '91 is great, but this is one of my favorite runs. Ah, Spring in California! The Desolation is my first set highlight.

KEEPER fo Sure 15 years ago - minus 3 days (it's the 7th where I'm typin from) excellent sound board -- 5 for audio. vince = strong great jerry vocals bob's fired up ... TLEO -- wow. Maggies hops -- way much fun... Phil takes over a special Foolish Heart. Fingers is ALWAYS best in person but drop into Truckin > new speedway is a way smile maker - powerful, special.

This has always been my favorite tape of the nineties - thanks to archive.org for enabling the digital magic. I don't think that I was at this show, but it's a little hazy ... but ... Hornsby and Garcia have some great chemistry. The second set - from the end of Foolish Heart to Drums especially - is full of heroics. They pulled New Speedway out of the vault just prior to this run, and while you can't tell on this soundboard, the crowd nearly faints.
