Vol. 17. Live from Luxemburg. Radio broadcast. Nice clean upbeat Bertha to start. Good clean Mr. Charlie. One of the best I have heard in awhile. Mmmmmmm Hurts Me Too. Super funky Tennessee Jed. Jerry has some tasty licks during Playing in the Band. Jerry smokes the solo in a long nine minute Truckin into a short two and a half minute Drums followed by a massive twenty minute Other One.

Tight as a drum, with perhaps the most well played first set, this might be the most underrated performance of the tour. Though it's a bit shorter, perhaps to accomodate the radio broadcast, sonically it's superior to most shows from the tour excluding only the official releases. Crisp and clear, the live-wire mix is particularly lively and the separation remarkable. The musicianship too is laser focused and precise.
- ★★★★★ · The GRATEFUL DEAD in Luxembourg · oh_uh_um_ah · 2008
This is why we love the GRATEFUL DEAD. Live concerts broadcast on the radio. I would like the highs a little brighter on this one, but the EQ on my computer can fix that on playback. Seems like when the tape is cleaned up, the ambience and depth of the highs is lost. AUDIO = 4 stars, SHOW = 5 stars, MIX = 5 stars. To come all this way to the IA and NOT download this show makes NO sense... Add this one to the collection folks. Eat, drink, be merry and listen to the GRATEFUL DEAD.

Maybe because it's shorter and tighter than most of the Europe shows, I find myself coming back to this one for a quick fix. I also somehow like the fact that this was being broadcast across Europe. Good starter set(s) for Dead and non-Deadheads too. 5 stars. What's not to like?
