Volume 20 of the box set — London. Massive setlist full of tasty Europe 72 staples. The boys crank hard early on Beat it on Down the Line. This is the Hurts Me Too they picked for the Europe 72 initial release. Such a classic. Black Throated Wind touched me. I don't know what else to say. The Hank Williams cover You Win Again should get more mentions. It's rock solid. Jerry sounds like he loves singing it and Pigpen obviously loves the keys solo. One of the cleanest early Casey Jones you're gonna hear. Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Blues!!! Only played that four times ever. Jerry smoked the solo on Mexicali Blues. 10 minute Black Peter! I can't say the Truckin' is anything particularly special but it hits within the set so perfectly. 10 minute Merle's Sing Me Back Home is chef's kiss. Jerry's tone on the solo is so damn good.

That's me, I was eatin' color crayons when the fellas played this show. Europe '72 was however one of the first Grateful Dead records I owned. Definitely the first album that I enjoyed whilst under the influence of powerful psychedelics. Europe '72 was the recording that showed me that there was a whole other layer of sound, and meaning that I wouldn't even know was there but for the miracle that I heard it. What a wonderful gift. Thank you all who made it happen...
- ★★★★★ · The GRATEFUL DEAD "Live" at the Strand Lyceum, London England May 24, 1972 · oh_uh_um_ah · 2008
( ) ( ) ( #############_"Smokin'_GRATEFUL_DEAD_Show" From over the pond on the island....Stereo Hi-Fi sound, excellent mix. A charmingly wonderful archive from the show. A "must have" for us collectors of 1972 GRATEFUL DEAD. Signature performances from 1972. A rock'n performance of "TRUCKIN." "SING ME BACK HOME" with Donna on back-up vocals is divine and Garcia's solo is beautiful. There are only 7 songs here, Mexican Hat Dance is not a song, and Sugar Magnolia is :42 long...Oops!
- ★★★★★ · Playin' · Dylan M · 2011
Not included on this second set only SBD, the Playing in the Band is one of the best ever. Only clocking in at just over eleven minutes (the Europe 72' tour saw the first extensions on Playin', in particular this Strand Lycuem run really started the exploratory versions.) Obviously you can't get this here any more. BUT pick up the Europe 72' Volume 2 disc for cheeper than the 400.00 Complete Europe 72'.
