Keith Godchaux — joined October 1971 as Pigpen's health declined. Acoustic-grand piano sound that defined the band's Europe '72 / Wake of the Flood / Cornell '77 peak. Left amicably with Donna Jean in February 1979. Died in a 1980 car accident.
